Deep was born and raised in India where he finished his education and came to the big flashy city of Saskatoon in 2011, chasing his dream to be the best plant nerd one can be.
He graduated Microbiology in 2009 and obtained his Post Grad diploma in Biochemistry in 2010 from India. It was during his dissertation at Anand Agriculture University that his interest in agriculture piqued. This led him to Saskatchewan to attain a Diploma in Biotechnology.
He worked as an Assistant Breeder at Agrisoma and later managed the nursery. Deep was involved in plot research, hybrid seed production and PBR (Plant breeder rights) trials. He managed nurseries contra production based of Temuco, Chile, and Australia in the winter months.
Later, he joined a potato breeding program at Tuberosum Technologies, south of Saskatoon where he was primarily involved in pedigree maintenance, TPS (true potato seed) production, and leading the agronomic research to develop improved yields and IPM strategies.
To continue sharpening his professional skills, he is an Articling Agrologist and is working towards acquiring his CCA. In his own words, Deep has an amazing wife who shares his passion for food and travel. Deep loves to paint, has had an Art show and hopes to have another in the near future.
